Peter Shankman Joins Epic Marketing as Futurist in Residence

The founder of “Help a Reporter Out” and 4-time bestselling author links with award-winning marketing agency to provide industry insights, client guidance, and never-before-heard dad jokes.

ODESSA, DE/NEW YORK, NY, December 10, 2019: Epic Marketing Consultants Corporation, a full-service marketing and advertising agency, today announced that entrepreneur and bestselling author Peter Shankman is joining the company as Futurist in Residence.

“We’re thrilled to have Peter on board,” says Nancy Dibert, CEO of Epic Marketing. “Peter brings fresh ideas, tremendous knowledge of industry trends, and a keen observational eye on what’s coming down the pike. Our clients will benefit greatly from Peter’s ‘in-the-trenches’ intelligence and real-time reads on industry insights and direction.”

Shankman is best known for founding the marketing service Help a Reporter Out (HARO), which has connected thousands of journalists with millions of sources around the globe for over 13 years. HARO was acquired by Cision Marketing Software in 2010. In addition, Shankman hosts Faster Than Normal, the Internet’s top podcast focusing on neurodiversity, on which Shankman and his guests discuss life with conditions like attention-deficit disorder and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and how having a neuroatypical brain should be seen as a gift, not a curse.

In addition to being the author of four bestselling books, Shankman is also a sought-after keynote speaker with a wide range of experiences—from marketing to leadership to getting work done on a long international flight. He has spoken to companies and organizations around the world about the customer experience, the digital customer economy, and the neurodiverse workplace. He also regularly grabs eyes on social media through his musings and personal experiences about everything from Peloton to Morton’s Steakhouse. In addition, he is a frequent contributor on CNN and other national news programs.

“We’ve known Peter for years and couldn’t be happier that he decided to join us. Our goal is to ‘let Peter continue to be Peter’ while soaking up all the insights and knowledge he will bring to his role with Epic,” Dibert added. “We couldn’t think of a better fit for our inaugural Futurist in Residence than Peter Shankman.”

As Epic’s Futurist in Residence, Shankman will be responsible for guiding Epic’s clients through cutting-edge trends and the latest technologies to help them grow their businesses. Shankman will be based in New York City while continuing to keynote and speak around the world. Throughout all his work, he will encourage others to radically change their practices and communications strategies so that they can best connect with others.

“Working with an agency was the last thing I ever thought I’d do again,” said Shankman. “But Epic doesn’t feel like an agency. It feels like a family of very smart people working with really smart clients. I’m excited and humbled to share my vision and expertise with this brilliant and talented group.”

“Plus, they’ve yet to get sick of my horrible dad jokes,” he added.
